Join GJEP's co-founder Orin in protecting forests and ensuring a liveable future for all

GJEP co-founder Orin Langelle started working in defense of the earth and against war in 1969. Join us in celebrating this momentous landmark with a donation to GJEP today.

We commemorated Orin's 50th year on the streets as an activist in Chile. We were in Chile in November and December and stood with Mapuche People, students, workers, women and many others standing up across the country to demand a better life.

They are rising up nationally against the oppressive economic system imposed under the Pinochet Dictatorship--when the ancestral lands of the Mapuche people were stolen and handed over to timber companies for massive industrial tree plantations. And when the devastating experiment in unrestrained free market Capitalism, known as Neoliberalism, was unleashed.

The photo above was taken at a Mapuche land occupation under the Lonquimay Volcano.

But we need your help to continue to advance our programs to defend forests and stand up for the rights of forest dependent and indigenous peoples around the world. The planet's most intact forests, a crucial part of a stable climate, are found on the lands of the Indigenous and rural peoples that depend on them for their survival.

See the video below--statements from Mapuche about the importance of the land and their commitment to defending it.

Global Justice Ecology Project is joining with others across the US and around the world to defend the rights of these peoples; and to demand an end to the unjust economic and political systems that are destroying the life support systems of the Earth.

Your support will also help us keep genetically engineered trees OUT of our forests and communities. 2020 will be a pivotal year for this effort and your support will be critical.

As another year comes to a close, please give generously. We rely on the support of people like you in our struggle for System Change Not Climate Change! This includes standing up for real solutions to climate change and opposing false solutions, as noted in the video below.

Thank you.
